A register search is the broad category covering any inquiry made of an official register operated by a government body. In Australian commercial due diligence, the registers most commonly hit are:
- PPSR (AFSA) — security interests in personal property.
- ABR (ATO) — ABN, GST, trading names.
- ASIC — company extracts, officer searches.
- Land titles (state-by-state) — real-property ownership.
- Court files — litigation history.
